I think the grid is great
the nav well placed up top.
the home page is minimal on text use, so it isn't that bad on the eyes.
the side-bar really has a twitter feel to it.
what is your idea of a minimal design, can you elaborate?
is there too much color used, too much text, is the nav too heavy etc?
I'm always curious for opinions on this.

That's not minimal enough.
That's not minimal enough. It's actually quite cluttered and busy looking.
