Minimalist? Yes. Creepy? YES!
Telenoid R1 minimalist humanoid robot: Researchers from Osaka University have teamed up with the Advanced Telecommunications Research Institute (ATR) to develop a minimalist humanoid robot that recreates the physical presence of a remote user.
EDIT: I just want to make a point here. I am not against this technology. Heck, I’ll probably be one of the first people to have a cyber-implant (yeah for cyberpunk!) on his brain.
What I am saying is that the way that robot looks and acts is creepy. Can you say “Ghost in the shell”?

Episode 20- The Air Has Overheated - The Bro Show - The Bro Show:
Instead of getting into the nitty gritty of of my recent return appearance on The Bro Show podcast, I’m going to attempt to explain why I love this podcast so much.
These are two young guys who are truly passionate about the things they discuss and that really comes through in the show. I mean, seriously, go listen to last weeks episode and tell me you know any two guys more passionate about the Scott Pilgrim series and film, or BBCs Sherlock Holmes series, or, well, anything they discuss. The only thing they are more passionate about is having a great podcast that earns any recognition they may get.
Not to mention, they are the epitome of the archetype British gentlemen. They are unflinchingly gracious, professional, a bit cheeky, and very smart.
So, go take a listen and subscribe while you are there. While this week you get to listen to me blather on at tedium, the coming weeks you get to hear two fine young gents who believe in things, and such qualities are increasingly rare these days.

Tua is the new table lamp by Venice-based designer Marco Zito for the great Italian lighting company Foscarini.
Tua is Italian for Yours - it wants to be a personal lamp for intimate places. The design resembles the palm of a hand, holding a light.
I love how it says softness in all aspects: there is softness in its rounded shapes, and softness in the indirect light, reflected and dispersed by the surface it stands on.
“The minimal movement that has been slowly creeping into more of the publics mental space I feel is being fueled by a backlash from the past century of a rapidly growing dependency on consumption as a form of entertainment. In a world where hoarding objects is such a serious issue among many, there are people such as myself that want to distance themselves from the hysteria and in turn look to a minimal style of living to accommodate that desire.”
- John Carey: Function vs. Form.

Function versus form and thoughts on living a life one step forward and two steps back.:
John Carey’s summarizes in one article a lot of what I believe in.
In the world we live in we have been trained to expect our purchases to do more and cost less. This takes me back to what I was saying about a backlash from those of us who are getting overwhelmed by the increasing piles of previous generations possessions and the current generations rapidly growing heaps of slightly dated tech and ideas discarded oh so quickly in the name of progress. This applies to many things in life whether it be the newest gadget or something as simple as the image you choose as your desktop wallpaper. It seems we need more and more to be satisfied in today’s world.
