Red Issue is reacting to the need for affordable fashion that expresses independence, confidence, sexuality and originality.

I don’t think it’s impractical in the sense that it gives a better user connection to the product through interaction. The mouse gesture interaction is a part of that connection and it’s discovery in nature. At least it gets people talking.
Eh. I’m not going to get into a UX argument here. Haha. It looks good, so I suppose it serves the purpose. :)
What is nice though, is that there is finally some discussion and commenting on this site. I like hearing what people have to say. I’m just brutal. I’m sorry. :)
I wouldn’t call it impractical. It is visually minimalistic, but that comes at the expense of the user experience complexity. This is akin to hiding a minimize button in a window and then expecting user to grab the window by a title and throw it down into a taskbar to minimize. It’s neat and original, but it’s different for the sake of being different, and not because it’s simpler or easier on a user.
Haha. Which is why it is wrong. Something should not be just for the sake of being. Something should exist only with purpose.
This is fun, but usability is bad. I think not one of you look at all photos on page, just because it’s not easy to access.
As usability guru said in 2000 about flash: it makes bad design more likely. And after ten years it still true.
I don’t like this web-site, and don’t will be visit more.
This site need a quick access to each page that’s true, but the mouse-drawn gesture navigation is an adaptation of the touch screen technologie to actual navigation system.
I don’t think it is really usefull too.

‘they lose sight of what a website SHOULD be.’
Personnaly I hope that website will be more interactive and more easy to use. New ideas are comming thanks to the touchscreen technology (like iPad, mobile phone …).

So good typography makes bad text likely?
Other designers are NOT the target market for the site. As a designer you dont like the site. But go to your nearest young lady and ask them to go to the site. I bet they have a lot of fun drawing the navigation. I bet they stay on the site longer than they would if it was a “normal” html based site. And that is the point of the site to keep the end user engaged and to make them interested in the site and therefore the content and therefore the product.
Think of it from a marketing point of view and not a designer point of view and this site makes sense.
I agree completely. Designers discussing these things and challenging each other’s ideas is so conducive to growth and further interpretation. Well said.
Another site that is again, clean in theory, but is completely impractical. If the site were static on the pages of a magazine, I think I would enjoy it much more. The mouse-drawn gesture navigation is far too cryptic for the average user. Some get so lost in the ability to use flashy and/or different little gimmicks, that they lose sight of what a website SHOULD be. Also: Please stop using unnecessary splash pages and full-screen flash sites. Again, visually it is beautiful, but after having to navigate it, I think I like it better as just a screen shot.
